Our newborn unit has been enhanced with two new devices: a bedside blood glucose meter and a CRP analyzer!
In the hours following birth a newborn’s blood glucose level typically decreases but it is crucial to distinguish this physiological phenomenon from other pathological conditions. Accurate and reliable blood glucose measurement must be conducted according to strict professional protocols. Our newly acquired professional hospital blood glucose meter ensures that measurements are always taken with the utmost accuracy and according to protocol timing, with results immediately available to our neonatologists.
Our other new device is a bedside CRP analyzer, which allows us to determine the level of C-reactive protein (CRP), an inflammatory marker in the body. The advantage of this device is that it can perform highly accurate tests using a small blood sample taken from a heel prick, with results also available immediately. This enables our neonatologists to make appropriate decisions in questionable cases.
