I am a paediatric specialist (2003) and a neonatologist (2005). My interest in neonatology had developed during the university years and it determined my workplace choice. I spent my whole career in hospitals, between 2001 and 2017 specifically at preterm intensive care. I have been through many fateful moments during these years with the families, both uplifting and sad ones. I saw families born, strengthen, sometimes fall apart, so I find it essential to support families in a new situation and Maternity gives the chance for that in its “Family is born” program.
With the changing directions in neonatology in the past few years, I have realized how poor my knowledge is about breastfeeding support. I did not hesitate to change that, and I attended a Specialist Training Course in Lactation Consulting organized by the Institute of Mental Health at Semmelweis University in cooperation with the Hungarian Association for Breastfeeding. I took the IBCLC exam in October of 2016 and graduated summa cum laude in 2017. Breastfeeding support is extremely important not just because it has an essential role in bonding but also for its significance in public health.
During my career I faced the boundaries of my knowledge many times at the university and during clinical practice. I tried to broaden my perspective and train myself with complementary medicine (homeopathy – university license exam, NES therapy, currently learning about aromatherapy). These cures gave me a brand new perspective in approaching health and diseases and made it possible to understand the connections between mental and physical phenomena.
I am trying to spend my free time with my two kids and my family.
