There are a lot of dentists in my family, so I wanted to find some kind of manual medical job for myself. I was drawn to obstetrics because it comes with a lot of positive and successful moments. Obstetrics/gynaecology is a complex profession and manual skills are very important during practice. For me, endoscopic surgeries are highly important. I am the head of the Endometriosis Centre of the 2nd Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Semmelweis University so I put special emphasis on the treatment of this problem as well, but of course I do prenatal care and screening as well.
My top priority is minimally invasive surgery, since it means much less burden on patients. I often tell my patients that I am the one who is suffering in the operating room instead of them as it is much harder to perform the procedure through a small hole. But I am glad it is much less inconvenient and painful for patients. This field is constantly improving, there are always new techniques and technologies and we are trying to offer the best medical solutions along with these. There are not many people who perform refertilization which can be an alternative to test tubes, but I do such surgeries.
Not long ago I got a letter from a young girl who thanked me for healing her mother. Her mother didn’t want an open surgery, so I managed to perform a successful laparoscopic surgery. This honest message of her daughter was very moving because it shows that women’s health has an effect on the whole family, so actually we don’t just help our patients but also their relatives and loved ones.
I spend my free time with my family, I have three children. Besides that, I like going to rock concerts, if I have the chance.
