I always wanted to be a doctor. Initially I intended to be a veterinarian, but an experience I had with an illness of my own change my path. I was treated by a general practitioner who was an exemplary person in my eyes, and that experience determined what I wanted to do. I graduated in class specializing in math and physics, so the entrance exam did not pose much difficulty. University was wonderful and I considered many difference careers, never really thinking I would become an obstetrician and gynaecologist. However, when it was time for the practical teaching of this subject in my fourth year, I had such positive experiences that I changed my opinion.
I started working at the I. Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic of Semmelweis University in 1978, where I previously completed my practice. I completed my specialist examination in 1983, rising through the ranks until I became an adjunct professor. Professor Zoltán Papp taking over the leadership role had a profound effect on the clinic’s operations and my professional advancement. He elevated that institution to European standards both in spirit and infrastructure. When he established Maternity Private Clinic and invited me to work with him, I followed him there in 2010.
I experienced a lot of memorable moments throughout my career. I will never forget the first birth I witnessed in my fourth year of training. Another significant moment before my specialist examination was when I performed the surgery to remove an ovarian cyst that was discovered during an infertility testing. Shortly after that, the patient was expecting a child. She was the first mother who I cared for during her pregnancy and then delivered her baby.
I love listening to music, especially classical and opera, but in recent years, I have gained an appreciation for retro pop music as well. I also have an interest in movies and movie scores. In addition to that, I am fascinated by technical and mechanical things, transportation, and all manners of machinery and vehicles, likely due to having an engineer for a father.
