Professor, anesthetist-intensive care unit doctor
I am an anaesthesiologist, intensive therapy, and emergency medical specialist. Since graduating from Semmelweis University of Medicine, I have been working at the Department of Surgery, Transplantation and Gastroenterology, where I progressed through the ranks to become the head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy. In 1991, I was appointed university professor, and currently hold the position of professor emerita. My field of expertise is general surgical and gynaecological surgeries and providing general anaesthesia and perioperative care for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries. As part of my teaching activities, I am involved in the education of medical students, resident physicians, members of scientific student’s societies, and PhD candidates. Additionally, I conduct specialist training courses for resident physicians.
Over the course of my career, I have watched the concurrent progress of surgery alongside the development of my profession, that is, anaesthesiology and intensive therapy. As such, I have been involved in the introduction of renal and liver transplantation in Hungary, the widespread adoption of laparoscopic techniques, perioperative care of endocrine surgical patients, and the intensive care of severely septic surgical patients.
At Maternity Private Clinic, it is a great pleasure to provide anaesthesia for surgeries, after which we can meet our patients over the course of a successful maternity and childbirth. I particularly enjoy the patient-centric and collegial atmosphere of the clinic.
I love my profession quite a lot, which is something I may have picked up from my physician father, and I can safely say I also perform it as a hobby. The recovery of a severely ill intensive care patient is one of the greatest moments of success for us. Additionally, I believe that ensuring patients’ freedom from pain during and after surgery is among the most beautiful professions.
During my free time, I relax with music, in addition to my family. I graduated from a high school of music, and it has remained my favourite pastime to this day.
