I graduated university in 1969, completed my obstetrics and gynaecology specialist examination in 1974, and my clinical oncology specialist examination in 1982. As a doctor, cytology, cancer screening and treatment of inflammations are of paramount importance to me. I am also a believer in treating partners with regard to my gynaecological patients, as sexually transmitted infections are quite common. I believe it is my duty to provide information on proper hygiene and sexual culture.

With childbirths, I regularly see the beginning of life, whereas in oncology, I also see its end: this contrast is extremely defining for me. In the more than 50 years I have spent in this profession, I have observed that with the advancement of technology, people’s awareness of illnesses has also changed and became more pronounced. That is why I consider it particularly important to dispel any possible misconceptions.

As an obstetrician, my job is not just to facilitate childbirth. I also have a responsibility for their development later on. I always have consideration for the unique needs of my patients, and I am not opposed to methods that differ from the norm, but only to the extent that they do not put the child in peril. Professionally managing childbirths is very important to me.

Sports have an important role in my life and I try to set some time aside for them to this day. As I used to entertain the idea of becoming a literary historian, books are very close to my heart. My four favourites are the Bible, Faust, The Divine Comedy and The Tragedy of Man. I always fondly go through the pages of these, whenever I have the opportunity.
